Almond Toffee Bars

Ingredients

2 1/3 cups flour |
 |
2/3 cup packed light brown sugar |
 |
3/4 cup butter |
 |
1 egg, beaten |
 |
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided |
 |
1 cup slivered almonds, divided |
 |
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk |
 |
1 (6-ounce) package toffee bits |
Step 1
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350' F. Mix flour and brown sugar in a
bowl. Cut in butter, using a pastry blender or 2 knives, until crumbly. Add
egg and mix well.
Step 2
Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and 1/2 cup almonds.
Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the mixture. Press the remaining mixture into a
greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
Step 3
Bake for 10 minutes. Pour sweetened condensed milk over
the baked layer.
Step 4
Sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture, toffee bits,
remaining almonds and chocolate chips. Bake for about 25 minutes longer or
until golden brown.
