Food items that are probably in your frig!

Flour, brown sugar, butter, egg

Ingredients

2 1/3 cups flour

bullet

2/3 cup packed light brown sugar

bullet

3/4 cup butter

bullet

1 egg, beaten

bullet

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided

bullet

1 cup slivered almonds, divided

bullet

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

bullet

1 (6-ounce) package toffee bits

Step 1

PREHEAT OVEN TO 350' F. Mix flour and brown sugar in a bowl. Cut in butter, using a pastry blender or 2 knives, until crumbly. Add egg and mix well.

Step 2

Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and 1/2 cup almonds. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the mixture. Press the remaining mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking pan.

Step 3

Bake for 10 minutes. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the baked layer.

Step 4

Sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture, toffee bits, remaining almonds and chocolate chips. Bake for about 25 minutes longer or until golden brown.

Money Savers

To keep almonds fresh longer, seal them tightly in a heavy plastic bag and store them in the freezer. There is no need to thaw almonds before using them in the recipe.

Serving Variation

To intensify the toffee taste, use butterscotch chips instead of semisweet chocolate chips.
